Congratulations on your Engagement! ...Now what?
The First Step
You will need to decide on a celebrant for your special day. Your celebrant will meet with you and fill in a document called a NOIM (Notice of lntended Marriage).
This document needs to be filled in at least 1 calendar month prior to your wedding date.

Documentation you will need:
-
Birth Certificate or Passport Photo ID such as a Drivers Licence
-
Any name change documentation
-
If you have been married before you will need to show evidence of the end of the marriage. If divorced you will need to show divorce papers. If widowed you will need to show the death certificate.

Planning your Special Day
This is the fun part where you get to decide on the different elements of your ceremony. Your celebrant will help you with this process.
Some things to consider:
-
What music do you want included?
-
Do you want to have readings in the ceremony? Do you want family and friends to be involved?
-
Do you want to include a wedding ritual? Do you want to have personal vows included?
-
There are some compulsory legal components that must be included in your ceremony, which your celebrant will explain to you.
-
Closer to the wedding date a rehearsal will be organised to run through the ceremony.
-
You will also need to have 2 witnesses over the age of 18 to sign the marriage certificates on the day.
-
A Declaration of No Legal Impediment to Marriage form is filled in a few days before your ceremony and then you are ready to say "I Do"!
